Description/Taste: Fruits are round, strongly flattened, ribbed. The skin has a bright orange-red color. The flesh is bright orange, juicy, with a medium-sized seed cavity.

Variety History: A family variety from Etampes, a medieval town south of Paris. Mentioned in the famous album "Vegetable Plants" Vilmorin-Andrieux (Vilmorin-Andrieux & Cie "Les Plantes Potagères", 1883), as a pumpkin, which is gaining popularity in the markets of Paris.

Washington Atlee Burpee (W. Atlee Burpee, founder of Burpee Seeds, known to this day in the United States) was the first to introduce Rouge Vif D'Etampes to American gardeners in 1883.
